Indonesia Launches Soft Launch of
Global Hydrogen Ecosystem Summit
and Exhibition 2025

Jakarta, December 17, 2024 – Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Yuliot, has officially launched the Global Hydrogen Ecosystem Summit and Exhibition 2025 (GHES2025), highlighting the country’s commitment to becoming a key player in the global hydrogen market. The soft launch, which included a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to review the National Hydrogen and Ammonia Roadmap (RHAN), is a crucial step towards the main event, scheduled for April 16th to 18th, 2025 in Jakarta.
Yuliot emphasized Indonesia’s abundant renewable energy resources as a strong foundation for developing hydrogen and ammonia, crucial for both energy transition and global decarbonization efforts. He highlighted potential applications in various sectors, including fertilizer production, transportation, shipping, aviation, and domestic industrial processing.

The Deputy Minister stressed the importance of hydrogen and ammonia in addressing climate change, emphasizing their environmentally friendly nature. He also highlighted the potential for attracting investment, fostering domestic industries, creating jobs, and generating added value for the Indonesian economy.

The Ministry of ESDM launched the National Hydrogen Strategy (SHN) in December 2023, outlining a three-pillar strategy for hydrogen development: dekarbonization, renewable energy support, and hydrogen as a commodity. The Ministry is currently finalizing the National Hydrogen and Ammonia Roadmap (RHAN), which will translate the strategic plan into actionable steps.

The GHES2025 is poised to foster collaboration between government, academia, and industry, aligning with President Prabowo’s vision of promoting renewable energy as a key component of Indonesia’s energy self-sufficiency.
